ATLANTA — Travel website Lonely Planet has released its annual list of Top 10 Cities to travel to in 2022 -- and Atlanta is the only American city on the list.

Atlanta comes in at number 4 for being “full of experiences you’ll never stop talking about.”

Lonely Planet’s experts said Atlanta is on the list because of its position as a battleground state during the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

“Atlanta is a thriving, shining cultural jewel in the heart of the American South with passion and activism in its soul,” Lonely Planet wrote.
Our fair city joins cultural powerhouses across the globe like Florence, Italy and Taipei, Taiwan.
