ATLANTA — Atlanta police and GBI Investigators are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened early Sunday morning near Up Lounge on Pine Street in midtown Atlanta.

Police say three people were shot outside the lounge on Pine Street just after 4 a.m. One person is dead and a lounge security officer is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. Police say one other person was shot, but the injuries were minor.
The GBI has identified the man who was killed as 25-year-old Frederick Demor Asberry of Douglasville.
Byron Heron, 33, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition. Andrew Smith, 30, was treated and released.

Police tell Channel 2′s Lauren Pozen it all began as a fight at the lounge and the customers tried to settle it themselves when things escalated and security got involved. Police say shots were exchanged and an off-duty Atlanta Police officer also working at the lounge and got involved and fired a shot.
The officer was not hurt.
APD and GBI investigators are currently on the scene looking surveillance cameras and other evidence trying to figure exactly how the situation unfolded.
The victims' identities have not been released and police have not identified a suspect.
