ATLANTA — If it can happen to Ludacris, it can happen to you.

Someone stole Atlanta rapper Ludacris’ Mercedes-Benz on Monday while he went to the ATM near 8th and Peachtree Street. He told police he left the car running while he went to get money.

The rapper told police he had an iPad in the car and that he was tracking it. Police said they later were able to track down the iPad to a Hyundai SUV parked outside a home on Lois Place in northwest Atlanta. Inside were Ludacris’ iPad, his Louis Vuitton bag and a laptop, police said. Those items were returned to Ludacris.

Police said officers found other items -- three Gucci bags and an iPhone -- inside the car that were related to a car break-in on Howell Mill Road on Jan. 23.

Mercedes-Benz was able to help police track down Ludacris’ 2020 Mercedes-Benz S63 to a parking lot for the Spectrum on Spring apartment complex in midtown.

“It’s imperative that people take their key fob with them when they leave their vehicle,” said Atlanta police Deputy Chief Michael O’Connor.
