For the first time in nearly two months, players from Atlanta United returned back to training.
It’s been nearly two months, 55 days to be exact, since Major League Soccer shut down team training facilities.
But for the first time since mid-March, members of Atlanta United were able to work out at the team headquarters in Marietta on Wednesday.
The workouts are complete voluntary and there are a ton of rules the players must follow. They must be individual workouts and groups cannot train together until May 16.
Atlanta United players must train on the outdoor fields and only one player per zone on the field may participate. That means no equipment and no passing between players.

Channel 2 sports anchor Alison Mastrangelo spoke with Atlanta United team president Darren Eales Thursday morning about the team’s next steps.
Eales said there is a three phrase process to ramp up training, starting with the individual sessions. The next step will be small group training followed by full training.
Eales said it will be a slow process.
.@DEalesATLUTD says they were excited yesterday to get back on the pitch at the training grounds. It was a first step. You could see the smile on the faces of the players who returned to the training grounds. #MLS #UniteAndConquer
