The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 10-year-old as Janyla Henderson. The man has been identified as 33-year-old Nicholas Jeffries. Family members told Channel 2′s Bryan Mims that Jeffries was Henderson’s stepfather and that he has three children of his own.
Jeffries’ aunt, Tracey Cartwright, said the victim who remains in critical condition is Jeffries’ 16-year-old stepson and Janyla’s brother. The siblings’ mother survived.

Mims talked to Jeffries’ aunt, Tracey Cartwright, who said he was a great father and didn’t deserve what happened to him.
“At times, I felt like I was more than just an aunt to Nick,” Cartwright said. “I felt like he was one of my two sons. He was a hard worker. He took care of his family and his kids, and for this to happen, it’s just devastating.”
Police said the female driver, who ran from the crash, has still not been caught. Her identity has not been released. Cartwright said the woman was a friend of the family.
“To me, it’s hard to know my nephew died the way he did,” Cartwright said. “But to know that she walked away from the scene like that, the least she could have done was stayed. Because I just want her to know, please turn yourself in.”
