ATLANTA — A missing 12-year-old was found shot to death in southwest Atlanta Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they arrived on the scene on the 1900 block of Shirly Street just before 2 p.m. and found the boy, who had been shot multiple times.
His body was found in the woods behind a vacant house near a creek.
Thursday, the Fulton County medical examiner’s office identified the boy as David Mack.

Neighbors told Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach they heard gunshots around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
“I heard two rounds of shots, six at the least, and it came from the back area of the creek and that’s when I jumped up, because we don’t get that kinda stuff around here and it was very close,” neighbor Kristienne Legette said.
According to police, Mack was last seen by his grandmother around 3 p.m. Tuesday. She reported him missing last night.
Family members who had been searching for him found his body Wednesday afternoon.
Homicide investigators are on the scene and the investigation is active and ongoing.
