ATLANTA — Two people are in critical condition after a car that was being chased by Georgia State Patrol crashed and burst into flames.

Georgia State Patrol said they were patrolling GA-400 SB near Lenox Road around 1 a.m. when they spotted a black Chrysler 200 speeding at more than 120 mph. When GSP troopers turned their sirens on and started to follow the Chrysler, the driver tried to speed off.
The Chrysler got off on Sidney Marcus Blvd. traveling east. The driver then tried to make a u-turn at the intersection of GA-13.
Troopers tried to conduct a PIT maneuver but failed. The suspect kept driving until, while attempting to get onto I-85 south, he lost control of the vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle rotated off of the right shoulder of the highway and hit a light pole before hitting a tree and bursting into flames.
Troopers ran towards the Chrysler and found that the driver was against the rear of the vehicle with a broken leg. Troopers also found a woman in the passenger seat. Troopers pulled both the driver and the passenger to safety.
Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The victims have not been identified and their conditions have not been released.

Troopers determined that the driver was driving on a suspended license. The driver is facing charges of felony fleeing, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, headlight violations and speeding.
