Chance for snow, ice increases for metro Atlanta next week

ATLANTA — The risk for winter weather impacts has increased for metro Atlanta Tuesday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Katie Walls said models are coming together to show a higher chance for snow over metro Atlanta.

Walls said metro Atlanta could see accumulating snow of less than one inch, but the Georgia mountains could see more. She cautioned that the system is still several days away.

Winter weather combined with freezing temperatures could lead to icy roads Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The coldest temps so far this season are expected Wednesday morning with lows in the teens to near 20 degrees.  Wind chills could dip into the single digits in the mountains.
