ATLANTA — MARTA police said a trespasser was hit by a train and killed at the Midtown station Friday afternoon.
Police said the accident happened around 3:15 p.m. on the southbound line. The coroner was on the scene.
Atlanta Fire Rescue said the person was trapped under the train and a recovery operation was in progress.
Rail power was de-energized between the Civic Center and Arts Center stations and a bus bridge was set up while police investigate.
The scene has since been cleared.
This is the second person to be killed after walking onto MARTA tracks in metro Atlanta in two weeks.
Early May 12, a trespasser was hit and killed at the Brookhaven station.
Neither of the victims’ identities have been released.
