The 36-year-old was right at the entrance to the Buckhead Loft.

Police say the victim was not involved in a fight upstairs in the main part of the club or the shooting that followed.

Witnesses say they saw the fight start around 1 a.m. Friday, including men throwing bottles.

That was when Atlanta police say one or more of the shooters went outside, got guns from their cars outside and opened fire back at the building.

One man was shot in the chest, rushed to the hospital, but later died.

Witnesses heard at least five shots and one young woman told us in the chaos, everyone ran to the back of the club and many huddled in a restroom, fearing for their lives.

“You could tell they were going to get a weapon or whatever because they were talking a lot of mess. When they came back inside, they just started popping their guns, pow, pow, pow! Just crazy,” Kaila Spears said.

Detectives interviewed those who were there and saw what happened, although most of the clubgoers were upstairs in the main lounge, not on the ground floor.

Detectives are looking at some photos taken from inside and looking for security camera video not only from the loft, but surrounding buildings.
