GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — Officials have identified four people killed in a small jet crash in Gordon County Saturday as a young Atlanta couple, a father and pilot and another man.
Savannah Sims, 23, was killed alongside her boyfriend, 25-year-old Morgen Smith, Smith’s father Roy Smith, 68, who was piloting the plane and 63-year-old Raymond Sluk of Senoia.
Sims and Morgen Smith were from Atlanta. Roy Smith was from Fayetteville.
The Cessna Citation disappeared from radar Saturday morning during heavy snow. The wreckage was found hours later in a wooded area of Gordon County that emergency crews were only able to reach on foot.
It’s unclear if weather was a factor in the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
Heidi Kemner, an air safety investigator for the NTSB, said the jet took off from Atlanta Regional Airport-Falcon Field in Peachtree City around 9:45 a.m. and was headed to Nashville.
