4.9M people will go through Hartsfield-Jackson during spring travel, airport says

ATLANTA — Leaders at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport said they’re expecting a busy spring travel season.

The airport said it is expecting more than 4.9 million passengers to travel to, from or through Atlanta from April 1-18.

Right now, we’re in the middle of that spring holiday period.

Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays are traditionally considered the busiest days for leisure travelers.

Channel 2′s Larry Spruill talked to passengers, who are learning that lesson the hard way.

“We’re going to Miami, but our flight was cancelled last minute, after we ran to get here and it was cancelled. I didn’t think they were going to come out here on a Sunday, I thought we were safe. We’re not safe,” said Dahmia Branch.

“Busy. We came from Dallas, DFW, we flew an American flight. We had a little bit of a delay, due to mechanical issues, but it wasn’t too bad. It was full and airport looks really full,” said Aaron Wilson.

Airport leaders said they are seeing travel numbers climb back to near pre-pandemic figures. That’s why they want to urge passengers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure for domestic flights and three hours for international flights.

Also, weapons are not allowed in the security checkpoints.
