ATLANTA — Severe Weather Team 2 has confirmed that at least six tornadoes touched down during an outbreak of strong storms early Sunday morning.
As we reported on Monday, three confirmed tornadoes touched down in Coweta, Fayette and Meriwether counties.
Now, Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz said three more were confirmed in Douglas, DeKalb and Cobb counties.
The most powerful of those storms was an EF-1 storm with winds of 95 mph. The storm in Douglas County was also and EF-1 tornado with wind speeds of 90 mph.
The storm that hit North DeKalb County had winds of 85 mph, making it an EF-0 storm.
Channel 2 Action News was in Cobb County on Monday where that tornado left behind piles of trees and debris all up and down streets.
Chris Caldwell said he was woken up by a tree falling through the middle of his home.

“I could see through the hall, all my walls were smashed in,” he said. “I don’t even know how we’re going to get our clothes. Our medications are in there. (It’s) just devastating.”
Channel 2’s Tom Regan went to Douglas County where he spoke with a couple who had a tree fall on their home as well.
“It blew the whole end of the house out. And blew her out of the house, that was the only thing that saved her. It broke her leg, her ankle. My son was trapped under the tree, I had to get him out. He’s got cuts on his side and his back,” homeowner James Denny said.
Denny’s wife said it was a terrifying moment in the dark.
“You don’t know how it feels for a mother to wake up, to her son screaming for help, and her granddaughter screaming, and you don’t know what’s happened,” Donna Holtz said.
