ATLANTA — In a heartwarming act of generosity, 6-year-old Sean Moore, a first grader at Bolton Academy in Atlanta’s Upper Westside, has brought holiday cheer to those in need.
Over the weekend, Sean set up a hot apple cider stand in his neighborhood with the goal of raising $250 for kids in need.
Thanks to overwhelming support, Sean doubled his goal by raising $500.
Sean’s cider stand offered an extra special touch: each cup of cider came with a slice of his grandmother’s homemade honeybun cake.
“Everyone loves my grandma’s cake,” Sean said proudly. “I thought it would make people happy and want to help even more.”
The inspiration for the fundraiser came after Sean’s successful lemonade stand this past summer.

“He really enjoyed meeting neighbors and seeing their excitement for his lemonade,” his mom Shenita Mickens said. “When the holidays came around, he wanted to do something similar but with a purpose — to help other kids.”
On Thursday, Dec. 19, Sean proudly delivered the $500 check to the Atlanta Mission’s My Sister’s House, a shelter for women and children.
The shelter staff were incredibly appreciative of Sean’s generosity and even presented him with a gift bag as a thank you.
“It was so much fun,” Sean shared. “I love helping people, and I’m glad I could help kids have a better holiday.”
Sean, who dreams of owning his own business one day, said this is just the beginning.
When asked what’s next, he grinned and said, “Maybe hot cocoa or cookies next time.”
From lemonade to hot cider and honeybun cake, Sean Moore has shown that a giving heart, a little determination, and an entrepreneurial spirit can brighten the holidays for those who need it most.
