Another Georgia man arrested in Jan. 6 attack on U.S. Capitol

ATLANTA — Another Georgia man has been arrested in the January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

Jack Wade Whitton was arrested April 1. He has been charged with civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon and acts of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings.

Indictment documents say Whitton had a baton, flagpole or crutch that he was using as a weapon. Whitton has been indicted on a total of eight counts.

He had his initial hearing on April 1 and a detention hearing scheduled for Friday.

Whitton was charged alongside four other men.

Whitton is at least the 10th Georgia person arrested in connection to the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
