Scene cleared after armed man barricades himself inside northwest Atlanta home

ATLANTA — The scene has cleared on Griffin St. NW in Atlanta after police were outside the home for hours Monday evening while an armed man barricaded himself inside.

Tactical Field Operators with the Atlanta police department responded to a report about a dispute that involved a weapon at the home.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that they believed the suspect may still be inside the home when they arrived.

No injuries have been reported.

Police left the home at around 9 p.m.

No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.

According to the Atlanta Police Department’s Standard Operating Procedure manual, Tactical Field Operators “respond to high-priority incidents to include barricaded subjects, hostage situations, civil disorders, sniper fire, and civil defense emergencies or incidents determined by departmental command to be beyond the scope or capability of uniform patrol elements.”
