ATLANTA — It’s no secret that people are moving to Atlanta in droves, and if money were no object, a recent poll says even more people would probably be moving here.
The poll conducted by real estate advice website Home Bay showed Atlanta came in at No. 2 of cities that people would move to if they didn’t have to worry about money.
It was only inched out by Los Angeles at No. 1 and beat out Austin, New York City, and nearby Charlotte.
According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, Atlanta’s job market remains robust despite inflation and surging home prices.
“The 11-county region added 65,000 new residents from April 2021 to April 2022, according to ARC’s 2022 population estimates,” the commission said.

The population of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Alpharetta metro area is projected to grow from 6,223,700 in 2022 to 9,549,300 in 2060, according to Washington D.C.-based economic and demographic data firm Woods & Poole Economics, Inc.
Atlanta Agent Magazine reported an estimated 21,384 new apartments are expected to open this year, almost double the 11,922 delivered in 2022, commercial real estate firm Berkadia said in its 2023 market forecast.
According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, the metro county with the largest population increase in the last 12 months was Henry County. Their population grew by 2.7%.
Right behind them is Forsyth County at 2.6%, and then Cherokee County at 2.5%.
In terms of raw numbers instead of percentages, Gwinnett County welcomed the most people, with 13,460 new residents.
