ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves and the World Series Championship Trophy are now back home in Atlanta.
The plane carrying the Braves team landed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport just before 6:45 p.m. Wednesday night, just one day after winning the World Series in Houston, Texas.
A fleet of buses met the plane to take the team back to Truist Park.
Before heading back to the ball field, Freddie Freeman spoke to Channel 2 sports director Zach Klein about what it was like to return to Atlanta as a world champion.
“Everyone’s excited, giddy and we can’t we’re just so happy to be back in Atlanta,” Freeman said.
Freeman said it still doesn’t feel real that they won World Series.

“The smile is getting bigger and bigger as the days go on. So, it’s about to hit me soon,” Freeman said. “I’m just so looking forward to Friday. It’s going to be amazing.”
Klein asked Freeman his feeling about being a free agent in a few days.
“I’m not really thinking about that right now. I’m just enjoying this moment right now. I’m just looking forward to Friday. It’s going be amazing,” Freeman said.
For years, people have said Atlanta’s had a sports curse on it. Freeman said those days are gone.
“No more curse. We killed that narrative a couple of weeks ago, and we kill some more here,” Freeman said.
Now the team prepares for Friday’s victory parade.
“This is everything we’ve worked for. And everybody contributed,” Freeman said. “That’s what this team is all about.”
