PASADENA, Calif. — Watching the Rose Parade is one the nation’s favorite New Year’s Day traditions and one Atlanta cancer survivor is getting as up close to the parade as possible: on a float.
City of Hope, one of the largest cancer research centers across the U.S., will feature an Atlanta woman on its float in the Pasadena, California parade.

Julianna Ferrone was diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer in July 2020. Despite a hysterectomy, appendectomy and four rounds of chemotherapy, Ferrone’s cancer came back two years later.
After another year of chemotherapy, Ferrone beat cancer and is returning to life as normal.

“You need to advocate for yourself. Keep going until you find someone who will help you, listen to you and offer compassionate care,” Ferrone said.
Ferrone and her doctor, Dr. Natalie Godbee, D.O., will ride along City of Hope’s 51st Rose Parade float titled “A Beautiful Day for Hope.”
