ATLANTA — Crews worked through the night Wednesday to battle a large fire at Paris on Ponce, a 100-year-old building across the street from Ponce City Market, authorities said.
It's unclear what sparked the two-alarm blaze at the antique shop. Part of Ponce de Leon Avenue was blocked to traffic as firefighters battled the flames for about an hour.
"No one was in the structure, but we did manage to rescue a few dogs and a few cats that were in a residential part of the building," Sgt. Cortez Stafford said.
The fire started about 9:30 p.m. There was damage to the building and an apparent apartment inside.
