Atlanta, Houston police chiefs take on friendly World Series wager

ATLANTA — Atlanta’s finest and Houston’s finest are squaring off against one another.

Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner are betting on their teams to win the World Series.

The stakes are pretty high: the losing chief has to wear the opposing team’s jersey with the winning chief’s name on the back.

The Braves took home Game 1 of the World Series to give themselves the series lead heading into Wednesday’s Game 2.

“You called me last night concerned about this bet, but you can rest assured, the Braves are gonna bring it home,” Chief Bryant said when he accepted the bet.

When Chief Finner proposed the bet on Tuesday, APD wasted no time informing the Houston police chief that the Braves would certainly be bringing home the title.

The pair isn’t the only set of city officials staking a bet on the outcome of the best-of-seven series.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner are betting packages of each city’s most iconic products, as well as wearing the opposing team’s jersey.

“I’m so sorry, y’all are going to have to lose the World Series,” Bottoms told Turner.

First pitch of Game 2 of the World Series is set for 8:09 p.m. on Wednesday night.
