He says the simple things of life, things most of us take for granted, couldn’t be more important.

“When those people go in and they come out, it’s like their spirit has been lifted. You can see the joy on their face. From a simple shower,” Deborah Crawford said.

Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Nicky and his wife Deborah park a trailer behind Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta.

There have been dozens of visits so far. Nicky says there are guests, who are quickly becoming family.

“When you actually sit down and talk to them, it’s just a family member. A family member who had a rough time. So we can all do something. Maybe not this. But we can all do something to help the unhoused in the Atlanta area,” Nicky Crawford said.
