Atlanta accepts the challenge @BarackObama. I will issue an Executive Order establishing a Commission of stakeholders and organizers to examine our use of force policies and call upon them to make recommendations accordingly. Thank you for your leadership. @MBK_Alliance

Bottoms was responding to former president Barack Obama’s challenge for “every mayor in this country to review your use-of-force policies with members of your community and commit to report on planned reforms.”
Obama spoke Wednesday about the recent national unrest over the death of George Floyd.
Specifically, he urged the mayors to sign a pledge to reform police forces:
- Review police use of force policies.
- Engage communities by including a diverse range of input, experiences, and stories in the review.
- Report the findings of the review to the community and seek feedback.
- Reform the community’s police use of force policies.
