ATLANTA — Atlanta police said a 10-year-old boy who ran from a car outside a metro Atlanta children’s hospital has been found safe.
Police say they arrived at the hospital at around 4:30 a.m. in regard to the disappearance of Mario Boyd.
Mario’s aunt told police she was trying to check him into Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding for medical care before he ran away from the hospital toward Edgewood Avenue.

“I was really just out of it. I didn’t know what was going to happen. Or if I was even going to see my child again,” Mario’s mother, Chanrika Boyd, said.
After nearly 15 hours, Mario and his mother were reunited.
Channel 2′s Tom Jones was at the BP gas station on Ponce de Leon Ave. near Piedmont Rd. and watched as Chanrika Boyd gave her son a bear hug.
Chanrika Boyd told Jones she was on Instagram Live telling people about her missing son when a man reached out to her and said he had found Mario and was taking him to the hospital.
“I didn’t do nothing but was kissing him and telling him how happy I was that he was ok,” she described.

Family members say Mario was going through a crisis because his father recently died.
When Mario went running from the hospital, his family says he was barefoot.
A good Samaritan found him hours later and told his mother that he had taken him home before eventually taking him to the hospital.
“They dressed him, they let him stay there and fed him, clothed him,” Chanrika Boyd said. “I want to tell him I thank you and I appreciate him helping us out.”
After loving on Mario, she made sure he knew to never do that again.
