ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating after what appears to be human remains were found near an events and entertainment venue in West Midtown.
Police said construction workers found the remains in the area of Jefferson and Echo Streets Thursday afternoon.

Investigators are working to determine if the remains are human and how they may have gotten to the location.

The remains are being collected, and investigators will work with a forensic osteologist to investigate where they came from.
Osteology is the study of human bones.
The remains were found near new Westside development Echo Street West, which runs along the Westside Beltline. The multi-purpose live, work, play space is currently under construction.

Police did not say what condition the remains were found in or if they believe foul play was involved.
