ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed on Ralph David Abernathy Road near a McDonald’s Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the woman was shot during an escalating fight with another woman. The woman has been detained for questioning. Neither the victim or the apparent shooter have been identified.
Police said none of the restaurant’s employees were involved and that other people inside the restaurant detained the suspect.

Police said the victim is between 30 and 35 and the suspect is between 20 and 25.
Homicide investigators are responding to the scene to gather more details about what happened.
NewsChopper 2 was over the scene Wednesday afternoon, where the restaurant was roped off with crime scene tape and there were several police cars in the parking lot.
Channel 2′s Courtney Francisco was at the scene, where she talked to a family member of the victim who said she was the mother of four children and she will be missed. The family member did not identify the victim and didn’t want to be shown on camera.
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting.
