ATLANTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to an officer-involved shooting in downtown Atlanta.

The shooting happened early Friday morning on Forsyth Street and Trinity Avenue. It was the third shooting on that same street in 24 hours.

A witness said the suspect, who was fighting, appeared to be "out of it."

"There was this guy walking past me, totally out of it," the witness said.

A witness told Channel 2's Darryn Moore that the Atlanta police officer tried to arrest a man but he put up a fight.

"The officer was fighting with the man in the back with a baton, and nothing was stopping him," the witness said.

A source close the investigation told Channel 2 Action News the officer also pepper-sprayed and used a Taser on the man, but that didn't stop him. That's when the officer pulled out his gun.

The witness said he heard at least two gunshots.

The officer suffered some cuts and bruises.
