ATLANTA — Atlanta media mogul Tyler Perry has donated a thousand $50 gift cards for Atlanta Police to pass out in the community, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Thursday.
Officers are passing out the cards in Zone 3 near the Wendy’s on University Ave. where Rayshard Brooks was killed.
"It's an opportunity to make one-on-one connections and spread a little joy," Bottoms said.
The Wendy's was the site of protests and unrest for weeks before being demolished this week.
Officers passed out the cards to people on the street and even went door-to-door in the neighborhood.
“We must remember that we are one Atlanta and must work together to heal,” Atlanta Police wrote.
