Barricaded suspect investigation ends peacefully after 6-hour standoff in northwest Atlanta

ATLANTA — A northwest Atlanta street has reopened after officials say officers were investigating reports of a barricaded gunman.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that on Thursday at 12:30 a.m., officers received reports of a domestic disturbance at a home on Ezra Church Drive.

According to the investigation, the dispute involved a man and a woman.

Police said that the woman escaped the home, but the man remained inside and ran to the back of the structure.

Officers confirmed that the suspect is believed to be armed.

After a six-hour standoff, police left the scene.

Channel 2′s Darryn Moore saw police peacefully investigate the scene without the use of flash bangs.

It is unclear if anyone was taken into custody.
