Atlanta supermarket robbed twice in less than 8 days

ATLANTA — Just eight days after thieves robbed an Atlanta supermarket, it happened again.

The first robbery occurred on Oct. 21, just after 4 p.m. at the Troy Supermarket on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard in northwest Atlanta.

When police arrived, the victim said a man walked into the store, went behind the counter and demanded money from the cash register while being held at gunpoint.

The victim said the suspect stole money from the safe and the gaming machines and then ran away.

The suspect was described wearing a black ski mask with black jeans, white shoes and a black hoodie with “Ice Cube” in yellow wording on the front as well as a black and white photo design on the back of the hoodie.

The second robbery occurred on Oct. 29 at 3:19 a.m. When APD arrived, the victim said a man walked into the store and was playing on the gaming machines.

The victim said the suspect grabbed and tackled one of the clerks and forcefully took money from the clerk’s pocket and the keys to the front cash register area.

According to APD, the victim said the suspect opened the cash register area and stole a cash box containing $2,222 before running away.

Atlanta officials have not said if the two robberies are connected.
