ATLANTA — A beloved brunch spot in Atlanta is closing down after over two decades.
The West Egg Cafe opened on Howell Mill Road in 2004 before moving just a few feet down the road to its current home in 2010. They’ll officially close on Sunday, Dec. 29.

Owners Ben and Jennifer Johnson said in a statement that they have been seeing a decline in in-person dining since the COVID-19 pandemic. They say they have seen a greater portion of their business online and third-party delivery services.
“Sales are down; costs are up. The economics of restaurants have changed, with weekday breakfast and lunch being hit the hardest,” they wrote.

The Johnsons wrote that they have spent the last year trying to come up with a way to stay open, but “do not see a viable path forward for West Egg in this location.”
“We are forever grateful to the many customers, friends, and neighbors who supported West Egg over the years. We have been privileged to witness future spouses meet, friends and families celebrate, businesses launch, weddings held, your children grow up here,” they wrote.
