The Bryan County sheriff’s office said Hillen wasn’t officially reported missing until Nov. 23. Deputies found Hillen’s car inside Fort McAllister State Park the next day.
Deputies, along with Georgia Department of Natural Resources and other K9 regional search teams, scoured the park for evidence. Crews said drones were used in the search.
On Tuesday, crews found Hillen’s body during their search of the park. There was no immediate information about the cause of death or how investigators made the discovery but the sheriff’s office said there was no concern for the public’s safety.
“This tragic event has brought forth additional resources to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and we are eternally grateful so many reached out to offer their services,” the Bryan County sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
