METRO ATLANTA — If the past few weeks haven’t made it feel totally like fall to you, the first full freeze of the fall Saturday night into Sunday morning should let you know we’re getting deep into the month of November.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for almost every county in North Georgia.

According to Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon, temperatures were expected to drop quickly once the sun goes down Saturday. Deon said temperatures will drop into the 20s in the north Georgia mountains and will be in the lower 30s in the metro area.
The City of Atlanta is opening a warming center at the Old Adamsville Recreation Center on Delmar Ln. at 11 p.m. Saturday.

The freeze warning will be in effect until 9 a.m. on Sunday. The NWS said you can expect to see frost and freeze conditions for several hours and that could damage crops, sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Everyone is urged to bring plants and pets inside.

According to Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz, the last freeze we had in Atlanta was Feb. 20, 266 days ago.
Deon said the average date of the first fall freeze in the city is Nov. 13, which means we are right on schedule. She said the earliest first freeze we’ve ever had in Atlanta was Oct. 11, 1906 and Dec.18, 1998 was the date of the city’s latest freeze.
