ATLANTA — One of the crown jewels at the world’s busiest airport failed a health inspection.
The American Express Centurion Lounge is located by Gate E11, in the International terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
It opened at the beginning of the year with a lot of fanfare, touting a menu created by an award-winning chef and a whiskey bar.
But on Dec. 10, the members-only lounge failed its inspection with a score of 69. Violations included food left uncovered, build-up in the ice machine and flies near the main bar.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Sophia Choi went to the lounge and spoke to some guests.

One traveler named Dennari from North Carolina told her, “It looks fine to me and the food is good itself.”
The management at the lounge kicked Choi out when they found out she was telling people the lounge failed its inspection despite the fact she is a member.
American Express sent Choi a statement saying: “Delivering a great experience in the Centurion Lounge is our top priority. We take these inspections seriously and have taken immediate steps to address the report.”
The lounge nearly failed two previous inspections in April and June.
Both times it got a score of 71, with the reports citing many of the same issues that landed the Centurion Lounge with a failing score this time.
The health department is now demanding a mandatory meeting with those running the lounge.
