ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News viewer Marcelo Flores Romero captured a stunning sight as strong storms moved through metro Atlanta Saturday night: lightning striking the Queen tower in Sandy Springs.
In the video, a flash lights up the sky before a bolt of lightning hits one half of the iconic King and Queen tower complex. The top spire of the building appears to sizzle after the lightning strikes.
Romero told Channel 2 Action News he saw several bolts of lightning strike the tower but finally managed to catch one at the right time.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz pinpointed the strike of lightning that hit the tower on radar:
In Bremen, viewer Alisa Gordon captured a slightly more lighthearted sight: her children’s trampoline lifted by high winds and tossed across her yard.
“I think my husband is more sad than our children, because he will have to assemble a new one!” Gordon wrote to Channel 2 Action News.
