ATL.ANTA — Atlanta leaders are touting a reduction in crime in 2024 and pointing out the areas with the sharpest declines.

Surrounded by leaders from across the city, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens alongside Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum recognized Zone 3 for cutting down on crime by more than 19%, Specifically tackling crimes against people and property.
Chief Schierbaum also revealed that crime overall across the city has cut down by 5%.
With vehicle thefts seeing the biggest reduction, Schierbaum and Dickens attribute this to policing and non-policing efforts such as the addition of care units, youth employment programs, and code enforcement.
“We’ve come in very forcible,” Dickens said.
District Attorney Fani Willis also spoke about her office’s work in tackling gang members and crimes.
Willis also spoke about the poor conditions of the jail, calling out Fulton County leaders to address the funding issues.
