ATLANTA — We finally got a bit of a break from the rain Wednesday, but more rain is coming.
And it's actually not just affecting our moods and our commutes -- all this rain is also putting a damper on our overall local economy.
Channel 2 Anchor Justin Farmer talked to local workers who said they are suffering because of the rain.
Johnny Hickson manages the 2-minute Car Wash on Piedmont Ave. He said the business has dropped as much as 90%
"Been a pain. A lot of pain this time," Hickox said.
Down the road at Ansley Golf Club, the rain-soaked greens were empty.
"We give out rain boots and free beer on days like today to keep our golfers coming around," Tyler Hays, a golf pro, told Farmer.
Tyler said the incessant rain hurts.
"This is a kick in the teeth isn't it? When you can't play golf due to conditions, the lifeblood is people coming into the shop," Tyler said. "Unless you have a thriving food and beverage business, you can really get killed in your numbers."
Across town, Farmer found Harry Normal realtor Erin Yabroudy holding an open house. She said that while the market is hot as it's ever been, the process to contract, inspect and close homes is more difficult.
“People are seeing water in their basements, leaks in their roofs, that they never even knew about with all the saturation we currently have,” Yabroudy said.
