A Delta employee went the extra mile to help a family whose son with special needs was nervous about an upcoming flight. The Atlanta-based airline shared the touching story on its Facebook page this week.
A customer named Jay G. said his son feels nervous about masks because of surgeries he had has over the years. Jay spoke with an employee named Sarah about making the flight more comfortable for his son.
“She helped me understand that there are options in regard to mask design, and she has actually made some for her family. I asked if she had ever seen any with Elmo on them as he is my son’s favorite. She wasn’t sure, but gave me some guidance on where to look.”

Sarah didn’t stop helping Jay’s family there. A week later, Jay and his son received a package: with a note and handmade Elmo masks for the family.
“I was floored that she 1) actually made and sent them to us and 2) remembered my son’s name and how important Elmo was to him.”
It’s great to see how Sarah went above and beyond her job description.
