DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man is in the hospital after somehow surviving a crash that destroyed his car.
The crash blocked traffic for hours in DeKalb County Monday morning.
Police said the driver was going southbound Interstate 285 near Lavista Road when he lost control. He hit an embankment and was ejected from the car and somehow survived.
The mangled car was extremely hard to be recognized.
The car was smashed in and wrapped around this tree.

Police said the driver was also ejected from the car. He suffered moderate to critical injuries and was taken to the hospital, but he’s expected to be okay.
The crash caused major traffic backups for miles during the morning commute on both sides of the highway.
