ATLANTA — Hours before the first pitch was even through at Truist Park, Atlanta Braves fans packed The Battery Thursday ahead of season opener.
After last season’s World Series Championship win, Braves fans couldn’t wait to get into the ballpark.
“I’m thrilled. We were so excited after we won the World Series last year and after the lockout, I’m just excited for baseball to start up again,” Braves fan Amelia Haston said.
And of course, the celebration continues because there’s a lot to look forward this season, including new uniforms from the gold collection.
“Those are so cool. We were already talking about going to get one so when the store opens this morning, we are headed straight there to buy one of those,” Haston said.
The jerseys the players will wear will have “Braves” outlined in gold with a gold championship patch on the side.
“I’m hoping to get one of those gold jerseys. Saw those come out, been waiting. Want to make sure I get one before they sell out here,” Braves fan Brendan Agans said.
Greg Mize, vice president of marketing and innovation, said they have some big surprises for fans in this 7-game homestand.

“Tonight, we got the banner unveil. Saturday we’ve got the ring ceremony where players will get their rings before the game. My favorite is going to be Monday night. Monday is the replica ring giveaway and when fans see this ring on Saturday, they are going to be doing everything they can to get in that game Monday,” Mize said.

“How excited are you?” Channel 2′s Michele Newell asked young Braves fan Benjamin Novak.
“I’m very excited because we’re going on the tour and we’re going to the baseball game,” he said.
Kali Ann Lisk is a super Braves fan.
“We actually just came from spring training. We went and watched the last two days of spring training,” Lisk said. “We’ve been to opening day five years in a row now so it’s a tradition.”
Her daughter’s name speaks for itself: Bravely.
Bravely was born one week after her mother celebrated opening day, five years ago. She told Newell that Ronald Acuña Jr. is her favorite player.
If you plan on heading out to Thursday’s game, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office is urging drivers to get there early.
Several roads have been blocked off near the stadium because of the game.
