ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta police said a man was shot in the head at the Gables apartment complex in Morningside Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the shooting happened at the 1900 block of Monroe Drive, on a busy corridor that runs parallel to I-75/85 in Midtown and through the Ansley and Morningside neighborhoods.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Police did not release the victim’s identity but said he was somewhere between the ages of 25 and 30 and that he was shot multiple times.
Channel 2′s Tom Jones was at the apartment complex, where police said the shooting started as a heated argument outside the leasing office. The shooter got away.

Jones talked to people who live at the complex who said they were shaken up because they said there is rarely violent crime in the area.
“I’m (feeling) extremely unsafe,” Almond Robert said. “And I’m from Chicago.”
Robert said he moved to Atlanta to try to get away from gun violence.
“I tried to leave a place of danger, and now I’m moving,” Robert said. “I pay all this money to stay here.”
Robert said he thinks that the gun violence problem is one plaguing people his age.
“I think it’s people my age, and it’s people my color that’s doing this, and we need to stop,” Robert said. “It’s about the people that they inviting in the area that’s causing chaos.”
Police said that they are still trying to identify the suspect.
“We don’t believe he’s in the area right now,” police said.
Police are looking at surveillance video to help solve the crime.
