Family desperate for answers after loved one gunned down in midtown Atlanta parking garage

ATLANTA — Friends and family of a young father are celebrating Thanksgiving without one of their loved ones after he was ambushed and killed in the parking garage of a midtown Atlanta high-rise earlier this month.

Keith Flanigan, 26, was shot on November 8 in the garage that connects to the SkyHouse high-rise and nail salon on 12th Street near West Peachtree Street.

Police say four armed suspects showed up up to the parking garage and waited on Flanigan to park his car. As soon as he came out of the elevator, they started shooting.

Flanigan’s family told Channel 2′s Michael Seiden that they are heartbroken, but are still confident that police will catch the people responsible for his death.

“He loved, loved, loved his family. He loved his family,” Flanigan’s grandmother Selinda Brown said. “Everybody liked him which is why I really don’t understand this.”

Brown says that since her grandson’s murder she has been overwhelmed by the love and support coming from family friends and strangers alike. She also says Governor Kemp, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms have reached out. The Atlanta City Council also presented her with a proclamation ahead of Flanigan’s funeral last week.

“He was a big help to a lot of people, and I heard from a lot more people since he’s been gone about how he helped them,” Brown said.

Investigators are still working to identify four suspects seen in surveillance video. The video shows four men parking across the street and then walking around the parking garage just a few minutes later.

“If the person is out there who did it , just turn yourself in,” Brown pleaded.

As family and friends continue grieving , Brown says she is trying to stay strong, especially on Thanksgiving.
