Fan guide to Chick-fil-A Kickoff weekend in Atlanta

ATLANTA — All eyes will be on Atlanta this weekend as the college football weekend kick off with a couple of marquee matchups at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday and Monday.

The reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs will kick off their season and the weekend against No. 11 Oregon at 3:30 p.m., live on Channel 2 Action News.

Don’t worry if you can’t get a ticket. You can watch it at 3:30 p.m. right here on Channel 2.

Channel 2′s Zach Klein, Alison Mastrangelo and Heather Catlin will bring you a live look at all the pre-game festivities from MBS on Channel 2 starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Then, on Monday, Georgia Tech will play No. 4 Clemson at MBS to wrap up the college football weekend. The game will air at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Those attending the action this holiday weekend will have plenty of things to do around the area of the stadium in downtown Atlanta.

The “Capital of College Football,” will feature an outdoor extravaganza at Tailgate Town presented by PNC, Team Walks built by The Home Depot and Kickoff Game Football Fest.

Located in International Plaza just outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, fans can enjoy live entertainment, food and interactive activations, as well as a variety of contests and giveaways at Tailgate Town.

Players from both teams will walk as a team from The Home Depot Backyard into Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Team buses will arrive, and an area that stretches into the stadium will be sectioned off so that fans, cheerleaders and team marching bands can welcome the teams.

Another event at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame’s Kickoff Game Football Fest. Those in attendance can watch drum lines, step teams and cheerleaders on Marietta Street, directly outside the College Football Hall of Fame with a day off of action on Sunday.
