ATLANTA — Dozens of firefighters battled flames shooting from the roof of an office building early Monday morning.
Channel 2’s Darryn Moore was at the scene on Trabert Avenue in northwest Atlanta as flames shot through the roof.
Firefighters said the building was unoccupied when it went up in flames.
“There was no evidence of any occupancy in the building it appears to be a vacant building,” said Atlanta Fire Asst. Chief Chris Wessels.

Nearly 50 firefighters used a ladder truck to attack the flames from the air and crews broke out windows to attack the fire from the ground.
“The operation started as a defensive operation, meaning we didn't commit any firefighters to the interior of the building,” Wessels said.
Crews contained the fire to the vacant office space and prevented flames from jumping to other businesses.
“Right now we have no real idea of the cause determination. We do have our fire investigation en route,” Wessels said.
Once the hotspots are out, arson investigators will go inside to find out what ignited the flames.
