Fire at Tin Lizzy’s last month ruled accidental, police say

ATLANTA — A fire that heavily damaged a popular Buckhead restaurant last month has been ruled accidental.

APD says it determined the cause based on “the physical evidence examined, assessment of information obtained, witness statements, and the investigation conducted by fire investigators.”

Investigators determined the ignition source was the electrical wiring of the restaurant.

Atlanta firefighters were called to Tin Lizzy’s Cantina on Piedmont Road near Roswell Road just before 6 a.m. on Sep. 20.

Within five minutes, crews had arrived on the scene as heavy flames came out of the left side of the restaurant.

Crews had to remove portions of the roof to put some of the fire out.

Officials with Atlanta Gas Light say that when they arrived, the gas had already been turned off, but they took additional safety precautions to ensure the fire did not become more dangerous.

The fire caused some damage to the restaurant’s interior.
