Firefighters extinguish fire that destroys Atlanta house

ATLANTA — Atlanta firefighters extinguished a fire that destroyed a house Saturday evening.

According to Atlanta Fire Rescue Captain Jared Purinton, firefighters responded to reports of a fire at 419 Thaxton Drive SE.

When they arrived, they saw heavy fire showing from the front of the house.

While they were battling the flames, a woman walked up to them and said she lived there and that no one else was in the house.

She told firefighters she didn’t know how the fire started.

The American Red Cross will assist her by providing her with a place to stay.

Fire investigators are on their way to the address to conduct their investigation.
