ATLANTA — There was an explosion at a Georgia Power power transfer station at Northside Drive and Joseph E. Boone.
Georgia Power says power has been restored to all customers affected by the Northside substation explosion. Just over 6,100 customers were without power this afternoon moments after the explosion.
Dozens of traffic lights near the area were without power, causing severe traffic delays.

Food Mart manager Arif Kahn ducked and threw up his hands when something exploded at the Georgia Power transfer station.
"I have three four customers. They scared, too," Kahn said.
At first, Kahn thought it was a bomb. Power went out at his gas station and no one could pump gas.
Georgia Power says crews are investigating the cause of this explosion.
The Atlanta Fire Department says rainfall put out the resulting fire.
