ATLANTA — Friends and family remembered a U.S.marshal from metro Atlanta who was killed in a shooting.
The funeral for Deputy Cmdr. Patrick Carothers began at 11 a.m. at Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross.

Investigators say Carothers was shot twice while trying to serve the warrant at a mobile home in rural Long County, about 55 miles southeast of Savannah. The team returned fire, hitting Dontrell Carter multiple times.
Carothers was taken to a hospital, where he died. Carter was also taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The FBI is investigating the shooting.
