GBI: Teen among 3 dead in apparent murder/suicide in south Georgia

CHALRTON COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say they are investigating multiple deaths in a rural area of southeast Georgia.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said in an email Tuesday that agents had been dispatched to St. George in Charlton County, where "there are multiple deaths confirmed."

Amber Krycka, a reporter with our sister-station Action News Jax, was at the scene and reports that the GBI confirmed to her that two women and a teen are dead at the home. Agents told her a family member found them.

In a new released Tuesday evening, authorities identified the victims as Caleb Logan Butts, 15, Kimberly Gayle Butts, 39, and Jan Elizabeth Kirkland, 64.

The GBI said a preliminary investigation indicates the three died in a double murder/suicide. The bodies will be taking the FBI crime lab in Savannah for autopsies.
