ATLANTA — In Georgia, it’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas and state officials have already held tree lightings at the State Capitol in Atlanta and the Governor’s Mansion in Buckhead.

Channel 2′s Karyn Greer got an exclusive look inside the mansion, where First Lady Marty Kemp said she wants people to believe for the holidays.

Frasier Firs from Jack Creek Farm in North Georgia fill the home and help to make the holiday bright.

Walking into the governor’s mansion, visitors are greeted by trees, lights and the sweet sounds of children’s voices singing holiday tunes.

The People’s House, as the First Lady calls it, is decked out for the holidays with the message at the front door: Believe.

“It is the people’s house. So they are welcome to come a lot of times,” Kemp said. “Some can’t make that. Once we light the tree on Sunday, we have 10 straight days of tours from 10 to 11:30″ in the morning.

Trees line the entrance and cascade throughout the West Paces Ferry mansion, where fireplaces are framed with white poinsettias, garland adorns the stairs, doors and fireplace mantles and the sound of music fills the air.

Students from Argyle Elementary School in Smyrna performed for visitors while Channel 2 Action News took in the sights, decor and holiday festivity.

There are “13 artificial trees and six real. So 19 total. And it’s just a winter wonderland. Hope everybody can come by and see and come in and get inspired and get the Christmas spirit,” Kemp told Greer at the mansion.

Each tree has a different theme, all with beautiful ornaments, but one means more to the Georgia First Lady than the others.

“Believe. It’s the family tree back here with all of the girls’ ornaments that they’ve made over the past years, like the one we were just looking at, Amy Porter, when she was in early twos at First Pres in 2004, 20 years ago, that’s crazy,” Kemp said, showing Greer the ornaments.

As the year comes to a close, the First Lady spoke about President-elect Donald Trump and her hopes for the future.

“I think it’s going to be great. He’s going to close the border, he’s going to bring back his policies that we really, really need,” Kemp said. “And you know, while I probably disagreed on how he treated Brian and treated me, we are human beings. And you know, we’re going to find a happy medium and we’re all going to get along.”

The tours of the governor’s mansion end Friday, Dec. 17.
